Connor in Mexico and Canada

After Puerto Escondido we took a bus to Mexico City and stayed for a night.  For that day we visited the pyramids of the Sun and Moon and an anthropology site.  The next day we took a plane to Pheonix where we would connect with a flight to Calgary.  Aunt Val and Uncle Jim picked us up at the airport.  The day that we arrived in Calgary was the first day of Stampede.  Two days later we had a Stampede Party.  Many members of my Mom’s side of the family came including all of the new children.  The James family also came, they even brought their dog, Pete, along to the party.  the next day we all watched the Wimbledon final game.  It was Roger Federer versus Rafael Nadal.  In the end of a gruelling match Rafael Nadal won breaking Roger Federer’s winning streak.  Someday later we went to he Calgary Zoo  with our cousin Avery.  She had an annual pass to the zoo so I assumed she was a regular.  Her favourite exhibit in the zoo is the elephant exhibit which is at the end of the zoo.  Thankfully she did not seem to mind that it was one of the last exhibits we visited.  One of my main pastime while at my aunt and uncles’ place was playing chess against Uncle Jim.  I won the first game but, after that, I could never seem to win another game.  I wonder why?  On our last day in Calgary we picked up our rental Nissan Sentra at an Avis rental depot outside of the city.  Our first destination was Edmonton where we stayed at the James’s Grandmother’s house.  Our first activity with the James family was to drive to a cultural village.  The cultural village was very realistic in my opinion and the characters stuck with their roles no matter what sort of questions were asked.  The next day we visited the West Edmonton Mall which is one of the biggest malls in the world.  In the mall there is a theme and water park.   We visited them both.  That water park is without a doubt the best one I have ever been to.  Our next destination was Jasper. It took about 4 hours by car to drive there from Edmonton.  In Jasper we stayed at the Whistler Inn.  The one trail that we hiked in Jasper was one situated right next to Patricia Lake.  Jasper is a railroad town and our hotel was right next door to the train tracks.  Trains would come and go every hour or so.  Currently we are in a hotel in Banff.  We made 3 stops en route to Banff.  The first was the Colombia Icefields which was a giant glacier that is shrinking every year.  We saw it before it disappeared.  The second was a lake by the name of Peyto Lake which is a brilliant blue colour due to the minerals in the water.  The third and final stop was Lake Louise where we stopped to see, well, Lake Louise.  Tomorrow more hiking.
