We're back ... but what happened?
After 342 days, 78 cities and towns, and after visiting 20 countries we are home.  After visiting 5 continents, the lowest Burger King in the world (adjacent to the Dead Sea, Israel … NO we didn’t eat there), and freezing in southern Argentina in July, we are home. After posting 351 photos, 82 texts, 29 quotes and 5 videos to this blog … we are home.  We experienced so much...

Across the Prairies.
We drove across the Prairies from Calgary to Winnipeg in our rented Nissan Sentra.  A very pleasant car with a huge trunk … 3 huge back packs, 4 day packs, a roller bag and a new Canon Printer (free when Connor purchased an MacBook at the four-day-old Apple Store in West Edmonton Mall).  We stopped in Moose Jaw for a couple of days and then went onto Regina and Winnipeg.  I’ve never...

Where is the most beautiful place in the world?
People have asked us “Where is the most beautiful place that you visited?”.  That is such a difficult question.  You have seen the photos of the places that we have visited so you will agree that the natural beauty in the world is quite amazing.  We drove down the “Icefields Parkway” between Jasper and Lake Louise, Alberta, and THAT highway must be close to the top of the...

Connor in Mexico and Canada
After Puerto Escondido we took a bus to Mexico City and stayed for a night.  For that day we visited the pyramids of the Sun and Moon and an anthropology site.  The next day we took a plane to Pheonix where we would connect with a flight to Calgary.  Aunt Val and Uncle Jim picked us up at the airport.  The day that we arrived in Calgary was the first day of Stampede.  Two days later we had a...

They're back! ... and I don't just mean the...
One day when we were in an Internet Cafe in southern India we met a family not unlike ourselves.  They were from Canada, had a boy and a girl and were travelling the world from August 2007 to August 2008.  Rick and Claudette James, their daughter Alex and son Luke are from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.  We spent some time with them and then planned on meeting them again in Egypt.  We had an...

Welcome back to Canada
We flew to Calgary from Mexico City and Phoenix, Arizona arriving after midnight.  The customs officer asked Alannah where she had been and then patiently listened to her list off each and every country we had visited (USA, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Italy, France, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and the USA again).  He smiled...

T H A N K S ! !
A huge “Thank You” to Tom Lismer, Simon Mills and Rick James for offering suggestions to help retrieve the “lost” photos after I corrupted a camera card and later re-formatted another camera card by accident.  I haven’t tried the suggestions yet but they look very encouraging.

Russian roulette - Part 2
Yesterday I lost about 3 weeks of photos, due to my own stupidity.  The last 20 or so photos that I posted here are all that are left of the last 3 weeks.  Most of the Internet Cafes computers in the world are pure garbage, pieces missing, keyboards unreadable, viruses galore.  I had trouble backing up my last 2GB photo card and then I did the unthinkable … somehow I put the wrong camera...

WatchWatch
This is a 17 second video of Silas, Connor and Alannah’s surfing teacher at Playa Carrizalillo in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.  As you can see from the video he has quite the skill … and likes to have fun on the waves.  While chatting with Silas I discovered that he as born on November 23, 1973.  He was six weeks old when I last visited Puerto Escondido back in January 1974.
